Can one man save the World? Most likely not. Apparently nobody made this fact known to Alexander. He wasn't told that a person couldn't walk the streets counseling those who suffer from all types of depravity. He wasn't told that he couldn't use his millions to gain personal connections with World Wide criminal terrorist, religious and political affiliations. And then use those connections to benefit others. He wasn't told that it's impossible to bring different people together to fight the same injustices that inflict everybody. Despite this lack of information, Alexander is relentless in his actions. And he isn't fully aware of his reasons for them. Alexander, an African-American, is a world-renown vigilante. He also owns " The Grapevine," a nightclub in New York City, and is in a six-month relationship with Heather, who wishes he would talk to her more. During an attempt to do so, Alexander is called to Washington D.C. by the President of the United States. There, Alexander accepts a challenge by the Grand Fuhrer, a Neo-Hitlerite who heads the World Coalition of White Supremacy. The challenge: a battle in South Africa within a year. Forced to prepare and fight this battle through his own resources. Alexander assembles an army from his Coterie of International friends. Together, they learn to work and fight, despite their differences, and travel across America confronting social issues such as child abuse, drug abuse and suicide. Eventually travelling to Africa, by the way of South America and Asia, they are involved in a physical and mental battle with Klansmen, Skinheads and Nazis. It is only through confronting the Grand Fuhrer that Alexander learns about himself. The title /blak/: Marked by disaster or misfortune, not only describes everyone in the story, but those who read it as well.
